And he needed that money back, so he decided to “check” out Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Back in January, Eric wrote a check to pay his accountant.

“I addressed it, put it in the envelope,” Eric said.

His wife dropped it in this South End mailbox.

Soon after Eric got a call from his accountant.

“He called maybe four or five days later, very worried that he hadn’t gotten the check,” Eric said.

So, Eric logged into his bank account and was stunned: nearly ten thousand dollars was gone.

“I just, I couldn’t believe it,” Eric said.

Someone had stolen the check, changed the name of the person being paid, and altered the amount from $1500 to $9500.

“He made a made a nine out of one and then, using a mobile app, deposited the money. It was like a cold sweat. I just was in disbelief. That was just a crazy amount of money just to disappear,” Eric said.

Eric filed a police report and a fraud claim with his bank, figuring he’d get his money back.

“It was so obvious that the check was altered when you look at it, I didn’t think it would be a big deal,” Eric said.

But Eric says it did turn into a big deal after hearing from his bank.

“They have to make a claim with the with the other bank, the depositing bank. And once that bank reimburses your bank, then you can have your money. So, it’s a whole rigmarole. It’s just a waiting game,” Eric said

After months of waiting, Eric still didn’t get his money.

“I was kind of getting the feeling that this was I was gonna have to take the hit,” Eric said.

In August, his bank sent him this letter saying, “Unfortunately, we have not been able to recover your funds because the depositing bank has not responded to us. We are closing your claim…”

“It was just shocking,” Eric said.

That’s when Eric checked out Solve It 7.

“I wasn’t getting anywhere,” Eric said.

We contacted both banks and in a couple of weeks, Eric got his $9500 back.

“Thank you for my for my missing money. I feel like the media is able to call people that are not available to the regular public. So I feel like investigative reporting is really important,” Eric said.

We think so, too, Eric. So happy you got your money back in time for the holidays.

The U.S. Postal Service has tips on how to protect against check washing.

Eric’s bank shared additional ways to protect yourself when mailing a check:

  • Use permanent ink [gel ink pen] to write your check.
  • Use the whole line or draw a line to the end of the line when writing the payee’s name on the check, so no one can add an additional name.
  • Use the whole line or draw a line to the end of the line when writing the check amount.
  • Fill out the amount in numbers and use punctuation that matches the written amount. For example, One hundred dollars, $100.00.
  • Sign your checks the same way every time.
  • Consider using other digital payment methods, especially if you need to write a check that says “cash.”
  • Order your checks from a reliable source.
  • When mailing a check, use only monitored and safe drop-off places or your local post office; do not leave your check unattended in your mailbox.
  • Be sure to review your monthly account statements and review images of all checks to ensure none have been altered.

Solve It 7: Refund Runaround https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-refund-runaround/ Thu, 16 Nov 2023 02:41:49 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1710609 A Bellingham man ordered some golf clubs he thought weren’t quite up to par. He says he got a refund runaround when he tried to return them, so he contacted Solve It Seven. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

After he retired, Jim Vincini decided hitting the links would be a perfect hobby.

“What do I love about it? Well, more than anything, it’s probably just getting together. Because during retirement, a lot of times, you don’t see any of the people that you knew before, and I can hold my own with a lot of the guys,” Jim said.

Hoping to improve his game Jim bought a set of four clubs from an online golf company.

“I’m always thinking I could use a few more yards on my swing on my distance,” Jim said.

He called in his order and paid about $500.

“The man I talked to said, okay, but the deal is we’re going to send you four clubs.  Try them out. Keep them for a while. If you’re not satisfied, send them back, and we’ll refund your payment,” Jim said.

The set arrived in June, and Jim tried them out.

Distance-wise, they didn’t do anything for me.

Jim decided to return the clubs and called the store.

“I said, ‘I’d like to get an authorization return number,’ and the gentleman that I was talking to started hemming and hawing. Instead of giving me a number, he started offering me deals. I said, ‘No, I’m not interested.’ He said, ‘Well, look, what if you keep the clubs and we send you a partial refund?’ I started thinking about it, and I said, ‘You know what? Okay,'” Jim said.

Jim says he agreed to a $350 refund.

“And he said, ‘Okay, at the end of the next billing cycle,’ he said, ‘We’ll credit your account,'” Jim said.

But July, August, and September went by — and Jim says things went off course.

“Kept getting the same answer. You know, ‘We’ll look into it. We’ll get with the accounting department, and we’ll get it done,'” Jim said.

Hoping for a stroke of luck, Jim emailed Solve It 7. “I see Solve It 7 doing all kinds of good work for people. I said, ‘Well, what do I got to lose?'”

We called and emailed the company. A representative told us:

We are looking into the delay in this particular instance and appreciate Jim allowing us to rectify the issue…

And they did.  Jim’s money was finally refunded.

“I want to thank Solve it 7. You guys just seem to get things done, and I was real pleased with the way it went down,” Jim said.

Thanks, Jim. And good luck with your golf game! Do you want us to take a swing at solving one of your problems?

Solve It 7: Direct Deposit Detour https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-direct-deposit-detour/ Thu, 09 Nov 2023 02:59:57 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1709585 When their flight was delayed, a Salem family put in a claim to get some cash back. But when their money took a detour, their next destination was Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Jeff and his family are frequent flyers to Europe.

“My wife is from Germany, and we try to go about once a year, we have three kids, and we want them to see their grandparents, show them around Europe,” Jeff said.

Last year they booked a flight from Boston to Germany.

“When we got to the airport, there was going to be a three-hour delay, at least,” Jeff said.

Being a savvy traveler, Jeff knew about something called European Regulation 261.

“I think a lot of people don’t know about it,” Jeff said.

It allows passengers on certain airlines flying to, from, or within Europe to turn some delays into dollars.

“I was like, well, we’re gonna get something for this,” Jeff said.

Jeff filed a claim and it was approved.

“We’d be getting 600 euros per passenger. So, 3000 euros, a substantial amount of money.  It’s compensation. That’s the purpose of it. It’s to pay you for the inconvenience,” Jeff said.

He gave the airline his bank account information so the money could be direct deposited.

“I called my bank and told them that I would likely be receiving money from a European bank. What is the correct routing number to use to get those funds deposited in my account? They gave me a certain number that I provided to the airline. Right away, no delays,” Jeff said.

But Jeff encountered another airline delay: getting paid.

“They just kept saying we’ve tried to send the money. You should wait a few weeks, it should be in your account,” Jeff said.

Jeff wondered if the routing number was the problem. “I reached out repeatedly asking, “Is the bank information incorrect?”

After a year of turbulence, Jeff emailed solve it seven, and things started to take off.

We contacted the airline. A representative reached out to Jeff and said the problem was the routing number.

Jeff gave them a different number, and the money finally landed.

“Thank you. Thank you for whatever you did to grease the wheels and move things along,” Jeff said.

Solve It 7: Concert Ticket Trouble https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-concert-ticket-trouble/ Thu, 02 Nov 2023 00:13:21 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1708235 A Massachusetts dad bought his son concert tickets for his birthday. But the birthday gift was almost a bust when they got the wrong tickets. Worried the show would go on without them, he reached out to solve it 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Sean Junior and his dad, Sean Senior, love spending time together.

Both on the football field…  and kicking back, listening to their favorite band Motionless in White.

“I like their music,” Sean Jr. said.

“They always reach out to the fans, they, you know, they’re always accessible,” Sean said.

In the car, the band’s music is always playing.

“He has ADHD, and it’s my biggest thing is just making sure that he is, you know, calm,” Sean said. “He knows all the words to the songs, so he’s singing that, and keeps him calm and focused.”

They’ve even traveled to different states to see the group perform live.

“I like the singer and the drums,” Sean Jr. said.

So, when the band announced it was playing in Boston this fall, Sean bought his son box seats for his birthday.

“It was important for me to make sure my son wasn’t feeling claustrophobic. He would be able to watch the crowd, but he wouldn’t be in the crowd. So, he would be calm,” Sean said.

Sean paid an online ticket company more than $575 dollars for two seats.

“A month later, I went to open up the email, and I opened it up, and it was the wrong tickets, wrong band, different date. I was pretty devastated. You know, I got pretty nervous,” Sean said.

He says he called the company and got a real show-stopper:

“They said to me, they go, due to due to an internal policy, you didn’t notify us within 14 days of receiving the tickets, we can’t do anything about it” Sean said. “I spoke to two direct managers. I was very, very upset. I was distraught, you know, a lot of money. I mean, especially it was for my son. I didn’t know what to do.”

Ready to be in the limelight, Sean emailed Solve It 7.

“You guys are great. You wrote me right back, and you know, the communication was phenomenal,” Sean said.

We emailed the company, and a representative told us:  There was an error on the ticket seller’s side which they helped resolve.

Then Sean got a call from the company.

“Hey, we just want to apologize. We want to make this right. They sent the tickets right away, and they gave us $100 credit,” Sean said.

And the father and son duo had a blast going to the concert this week.

“I’m very grateful,” Sean Jr. said.

“Thank you very much for everything. We appreciate you,” Sean said.

Solve It 7: Loan Payment Problem https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-loan-payment-problem/ Thu, 26 Oct 2023 01:44:35 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1706600 A local mom wanted to help her daughter with her student loan. But when her payment didn’t get posted to the account, she turned to Solve It 7 for help.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Angela beams with pride showing us her daughter Valerie’s graduation photos.

“It’s a proud moment to see her finish school and have done so well,” Angela said.

Valerie graduated from Assumption University this year with her degree and student loan debt.

“Student loans were a hot topic in the news telling us the grace period was ending,” Angela said.

Knowing interest would start accruing in September — Angela made a $5000 payment on Valerie’s loan — in July.

“I thought, let’s get the ball rolling. Let’s drop the balance down a little bit,” Angela said.

The student loan servicing company sent an email saying:

“Thank you for your payment,” which “will be posted to your… account within 48 business hours.”

But in mid-August, Angela got a surprise when she logged onto the loan account.

“I went on the screen; it just showed the same loan amount,” Angela said. “And I’m like, ‘Well, where’s my payment?'”

Then Angela checked her bank account.

“They took that money out of my account. So now I was freaking out,” Angela said.

She called the loan company and says a representative told her:

“Oh, there seems to be a backlog of payments. We had a system issue, and we need to process it manually, so we haven’t processed all the payments yet. So, I was like, ‘Well, why would you take the money out of my account if you weren’t going to process it?’”

Angela hung up and contacted Solve It 7. “I was concerned,” she said. “Are they going to start accruing interest on the full balance and not even recognize the payment I did make?”

We reached out to the company and were referred to the U.S. Department of Education.

A spokesperson said the account came under review because a payment was made by someone other than Valerie.

“That one really puzzled me because we both had the same last name assuming they could probably see that piece,” Angela said. “Why didn’t they contact us to verify the payment?”

But the payment finally posted without any extra interest charges.

“I want to say thank you very much,” Angela said. “Because you got that headache off my back, and it finally got resolved.”

We’re so glad to have helped.  If you’re puzzled about a problem, we’ll try to get answers.

Solve It 7: TV Trouble https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-tv-trouble/ Thu, 19 Oct 2023 02:02:28 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1705209 A Framingham couple says they started to fret over their TV set.  It stopped working, and when the repair didn’t go as they expected, they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Three giant Xs were scratched into their television screen.

“I was surprised. I was I was surprised,” Bryan said.

Bryan says their set was damaged when someone came out to fix it.

“I was like, ‘Okay, well, I guess it’s really broken now,'” Bryan said.

Bryan and his partner, Martin, bought the television last year and paid it off in installments.

They say a week after they made the last payment, the TV started having problems.

“The TV turned on twice in the middle of the night without anyone being up or anything. A month later, it just wouldn’t turn on anymore. We were disappointed,” Bryan said.

Bryan says he called the store where he got the TV.

“It was paid for, and there was nothing they could do,” Bryan said.

So, he contacted the TV manufacturer, and a repair man was sent to the house.

“The screen was faulty,” Bryan said. “He removed the motherboard and put three giant scratches on the screen of the TV. He just did it, and then he said he was done. And before he left, I looked at the TV like, ‘So do we throw it out? Or do we keep it?'”

Bryan says he was told the manufacturer would get an authorization that would let him return the TV to the store.

But after waiting two months, that didn’t happen, so Bryan decided to add Solve it 7 to his broken TV file.

“I had kinda given up. My last effort was to call Solve It 7,” Bryan said.

We contacted the manufacturer. A representative told us:

While this TV’s one-year warranty is expired, we value our customers’ experiences, we have sent a replacement unit directly to the customer.

Within a week, a new TV arrived.

“I was glad. I was happy. Now we can watch Solve It 7 on our new TV,” Bryan said.

They got it all set up, and now they’re ready to see 7 News on their big screen!

“Thank you very much, Solve It 7,” Bryan said.

Solve It 7: Hotel Room Refund https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-hotel-room-refund/ Thu, 12 Oct 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1703959 All she wanted was to be by her fiance’s side while he was in the hospital but says she ended up getting a big hotel bill for rooms she never got. When she had trouble getting her money back, she contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Tamara’s fiancé, Alfredo, with his bright smile, has been the light of her life.

“For a very long time, we’ve been together, and he’s been my soulmate,” Tamara said.

Earlier this year, Alfredo got sick, was hospitalized in Boston for months — and sadly passed away.

“He’s a great person has a big heart. He’s always there for me and our family,” Tamara said.

During the time Alfredo was in Boston, Tamara stayed close to him.

“Being at the hospital every day trying to, you know, be by Alfredo’s side and watch over him and make sure he’s getting the best care,” Tamara said.

“The Leominster woman booked different hotels near the hospital,” Tamara said.

“We weren’t sure what was occurring. So, we had to plan out visits in Boston to stay because the commute was over an hour,” Tamara said.

One day Tamara did a quick search on her phone to find a room.

“So we booked a hotel through what I thought was the website,” Tamara said.

She called the hotel to confirm her two-night reservation.

“The hotel had told me there’s no availability that there’s no way that I was able to book this,” Tamara said.

Turns out she didn’t book through the hotel’s website; it was a third-party site.

“I was very surprised. It didn’t even tell me it was through a third party until after the charges went through,” Tamara said.

Tamara says she canceled the nearly $1200 reservation, but the website only gave her $400 back.

“I was charged for two nights in a hotel that I did not stay at and was fighting to get my money back,” Tamara said.

Tamara says she disputed the other $800 charge on her credit card.

“I tried to dispute this multiple times through this whole time being in Boston,” Tamara said.

But the credit card company did not approve her dispute.

“I was extremely angry, not only angry but frustrated. I am adding an extra stress level to figure something out. Not working and not having the finances to provide for something I didn’t receive was just, it didn’t seem right,” Tamara said.

So, to make things right, Tamara contacted solve it 7.

“I said I need to do something more,” Tamara said.

We tried contacting the third-party booking site. They did not respond.

So, we emailed Tamara’s credit card company which investigated and refunded her the other

$800.

“I just want to say thank you very much for your time and your effort helping me fight this case,” Tamara said.

Solve It 7: PTO Payout Problem https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-pto-payout-problem/ Thu, 05 Oct 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1702471 A local parent helped raise thousands of dollars for a North Andover school using an online service. But when it was time to cash in – she says that company wasn’t making the grade. Tonight, she’s giving Solve It 7 an “A+” for getting the money she was due. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

A school cafeteria was transformed into a decorative dance hall.

And dozens of students and chaperones dressed up for two separate dances.

“I just wanted everyone to have a good time. The kids come in tons of energy, tons of excitement,” Kristian said.

Kristian volunteered to organize the event for the North Andover Thomson Elementary School PTO.

“Probably our biggest fundraiser for the year. It’s a big deal. I wanted to do a good job,” Kristian said.

The money helps pay for playground improvements and classroom supplies.

“Without a PTO kind of helping with some of the extras and the things that pull the community together, then you’re relying on the school budget alone, and we all know that the school budget is never going to be enough no matter where you are,” Kristian said.

Kristian sold tickets to the dances through an online ticket company.

“A parent or family member would go on and, you know, choose what they need for tickets, pay with their credit card, and then the money is essentially held for us,” Kristian said.

The events raised more than $17,000.

“I was so excited,” Kristian said.

In March, Kristian got an email from the ticket company saying:

“We strive to send funds collected… Within ten business days; however, please note that we are currently experiencing delays. You will receive an email notification when that payment is processed.”

“I said, ‘It’d be okay. If we just gotta wait a little bit, we just gotta wait a little bit,” Kristian said.

But April, May, and June went by — the school year ended, and the money never came.

“I started, definitely started to panic,” Kristian said.

Kristian says she emailed the company many times and just got auto-replies.

And when she called:

“It’s just a line that’s disconnected,” Kristian said.

When the new school year started in August, she still didn’t have the money. “I thought, ‘I’m never going to see this money. And how am I going to explain it to the school community?'”

Just when she was about to give the company a failing grade — she emailed Solve It 7.

“I never thought I would hear from you,” Kristian said.

When we contacted the company, we were told:

It is in the process of being acquired by another company — which will accelerate delayed payments.

And the Thomson Elementary School PTO’s payment was about to be paid.

“About six days from when I first reached out to you that we had the money. And unbelievable. Just unbelievable. Never thought I’d see the day,” Kristian said.

The PTO can now pay off the school’s playground renovation and fund other classroom projects.

“Thank you so much. I mean, I’m just so incredibly thankful that you were willing to work with us and take a chance on us and help us get this money for the kids and the staff at Thomson,” Kristian said.

Solve It 7: Punctuation Problem https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-punctuation-problem/ Thu, 28 Sep 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1700858 A Tewksbury man says he was having a punctuation problem. One that kept him from cashing a $2,000 security deposit check.

That’s until Solve It 7 checked it out. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

“Every time I saw something that needed to be cleaned, I was on it,” Matthew said.

Matthew kept the apartment he rented with his two roommates spotless.

“I cleaned. I mopped. I swept,” Matthew said.

That’s because he paid the entire $2,000 security deposit himself.

“I left it clean. It didn’t get messy. I think I deserved the $2,000 back,” Matthew said.

After Matthew moved out, he got that security deposit back.

“I was happy about it,” Matthew said.

The check was made out to Matthew and his roommates because they were all listed on the lease.

But there was a semi-colon between each of their names.

“I saw the semi-colons. I thought it was the way checks are written out,” Matthew said.

But Matthew soon discovered he had a check-cashing punctuation problem!

“I took it to my credit union first, and they told me they were unable to do anything about it because of the semicolons. ‘It doesn’t specify if it’s for one of them or if it’s for all three of them,'” Matthew said.

The semi-colons made things tricky: who could cash the check?

His roommates tried their banks too.

“They also then said sorry; unfortunately, we can’t deposit this,” Matthew said.

They were all told the simplest option would be to get a new check with the words “and” — or “or” (and/or) between their names. That way, any one of them could cash it.

“I was very frustrated,” Matthew said.

Matthew says he called the property management company several times and went to the office asking for a new check.

“I was like, ‘Okay, hopefully I should have my money soon,'” Matthew said.

But when the new check arrived, it still had the semicolons.

“I lost it. I didn’t know what to do. I was basically stuck. I had this $2,000. I’m looking forward to putting towards my future,” Matthew said.

He says he left more messages for the management company.

“Never ever got a response. No one was answering the phone. No one’s calling me back,” Matthew said.

Finally, he banked on Solve It 7.

“I was like, ‘You know, what, it’s worth a shot,'” Matthew said.

We tried contacting the management company, but no one responded.

So we emailed Matthew’s credit union.

A representative told us they have to be careful to protect against fraud.

But with Matthew’s roommates’ consent, they cashed the check.

“Solve It 7 honestly reached out and helped me a lot, and I can’t thank enough,” Matthew said.

Solve It 7: Luggage Letdown https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-luggage-letdown/ Thu, 21 Sep 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1699510 A Beverly woman returned to Massachusetts after a trip to Europe — but her luggage had an extended stay! When she needed help getting it back, she contacted Solve It Seven. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Elaine and her husband, Michael, went on a dream vacation to Italy this summer with their family.

“We had a wonderful, wonderful time,” Michael said.

“It’s just so beautiful, the flowers, the scenery. Michael wanted to take his children and grandchildren to see where he was from,” Elaine said.

They had a tight connecting flight from Rome to Naples on the last leg of the trip.

“We planned an itinerary that was completely booked,” Elaine said.

They made the flight, but Elaine’s bag did not.

“We went to baggage claim, and my bag was not there. They said they would call me the next day, and I hadn’t gotten a call. I didn’t have a carry-on. So everything went in that bag. It was all I had,” Elaine said.

Elaine had to go on tours wearing the same clothes for two days.

“I felt very uncomfortable about that. This was a family trip that we had planned for so long. We wanted to take some nice pictures to remember it by. It was very disappointing,” Elaine said.

Finally, the airline emailed that her luggage could be picked up in Naples at 9 a.m.  But her flight home was at six in the morning.

“I wondered if I would ever see that bag again,” Elaine said.

Back in Beverly, she says she called and emailed the airline for a month, but she never got her bag back.

“I was trying not to give up hope,” Elaine said.

Finally, Elaine contacted Solve It 7, and things started to take off.

“I know about Solve It 7, and I thought, ‘Oh my last hope I’m gonna call them,” Elaine said.

We emailed the airline a representative apologized for the disruption.

And soon after, her bag arrived.

“I was the happiest person on the planet that day. I was beaming,” Elaine said.

And when Elaine opened it, all her belongings, including her jewelry and souvenirs, were still inside.

“Thank you Solve It 7. I don’t know what I’d do without you. I felt like I had someone on my side, an advocate. I got results pretty fast,” Elaine said.

We’re glad you got you’re bag back! The airline also reimbursed Elaine $400 dollars for things she had to buy in Italy since she didn’t have her luggage.

Solve It 7: Tow Troubles https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-tow-troubles/ Thu, 14 Sep 2023 01:49:16 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1698037 A Norwell woman says her new car was damaged by a tow truck driver.  When she couldn’t get her claim paid, she shifted gears and contacted Solve It 7.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

This sporty, shiny Tesla was Natasha’s birthday gift from her husband.

“I love the car so much,” Natasha said.

Natasha charges the electric car in their garage.

“We plug it in every night, and it charges it fully,” Natasha said.

But earlier this year, Natasha drove it to New Jersey.

“It was my first time overnight somewhere, and I wasn’t used to not plugging it in in my garage. It ran out of power,” Natasha said.

So she called a roadside assistance company for a tow to a charging station.

“A flatbed company showed up, and the guy who arrived, the first thing he said was, ‘Oh, my god, I’ve never towed a Tesla before.’ I was like, ‘Great,'” Natasha said.

Natasha says that’s when her tow trouble started.

“He’s pulling it up, scraping the rims against the sidewalk and against the metal of his flatbed, and it’s at a weird angle, and it was just like a total debacle,” Natasha said. “My friend and I are standing there. And we’re like, ‘What are you doing? Stop! Stop!'”

She says her car was scraped and scuffed.

“I was pointing to it. I was like, ‘Look what you did.’ As he was transporting it, the wheel covers flew off. I was so upset.”

Natasha called the roadside assistance company.

“They were so kind on the phone. They said, ‘Do not worry about it. We will take care of everything.’ They said they were going send their adjuster,” Natasha said.

But she says after the adjuster arrived, her claim hit the brakes.

“That adjuster then started cross-examining me started changing the story. After the adjuster submitted everything, the tow truck company then denied everything. I was so upset and so disappointed,” Natasha said.

Natasha says the situation seemed so black and white!

“I spoke to a supervisor. They resubmitted the claim for a second time. It was denied again,” Natasha said.

She put in a claim with her own insurance company but was stuck paying a one-thousand-dollar deductible.

“We were like, ‘Why are we paying this? This isn’t our fault.’ There wasn’t a scratch on our vehicle when we called the tow company. We asked them to pay the deductible. But they refused,” Natasha said.

Feeling revved up– she contacted Solve It Seven.

“We watch you all the time,” Natasha said.

We emailed the roadside assistance company. A representative told us:

“We truly appreciate that this matter was brought to our attention to give us an opportunity to resolve it satisfactorily. We will be issuing a check for $1,000 to cover the deductible.”

And soon after, Natasha got the check.

“Thank you so much. Solve it 7. You guys are the best. You’re amazing. We love you. We couldn’t have done this without you. Thank you,” Natasha said.

Solve It 7: Removal Runaround https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-removal-runaround/ Thu, 07 Sep 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1696589 A local woman was worried about a potentially dangerous situation in her backyard. She says no one would help her, so she turned to Solve It 7.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Janine bought a house with a big backyard,  a relaxing pool, and two large propane tanks.

“The tanks came with the house. They were there to heat the pool,” Janine said.

After a while, Janine decided the tanks had to go.

“We didn’t need them because I wasn’t gonna heat the pool,” Janine said.

And with the wild New England weather, she worried the tanks could get toppled during a storm.

“The tanks were attached to each other with a wire, and then the pipe coming up. There’s a lot of dead trees back here, and they fall all the time. I thought that was dangerous. If we get a gust of wind in, that line snapped. I’ve seen explosions, and stuff, makes me a little nervous,” Janine said.

The two tanks had a company name on them. So she called the number to have the tanks picked up.

“She said, ‘Oh, they’ll they’ll be out. They’ll make an appointment with you. They’ll call you and make an appointment with you.’ They never did,” Janine said.

So Janine says a week later, she called again.

“They put me on the phone on hold for a lengthy time, and then they just kind of disappeared for a while, like an hour or so,” Janine said.

And when she did speak to someone, she felt even more uneasy.

“They gave me the runaround. You know, ‘Do you own the house?’ I said, ‘I have mortgage papers.’ ‘How do you know they’re our tanks?’ It has the name on them.’ When I told him it was a safety concern, he just said, ‘Call 911.’ I just thought, this is it. They’re not gonna come and get the tanks. So I have to take another action,” Janine said.

So Janine emailed Solve It 7, and we jumped into action.

After we contacted the company, the two gas tanks were picked up the next day.

A representative told us: Serving customers safely and reliably every day is our main priority. We apologize for the difficulty with her request to remove the propane tanks from her property.

“Thank you. Solve it 7,” Janine said. “Thank you because I don’t think they would have done anything if I didn’t get a hold of somebody.”

You’re welcome, Janine. Do you have a problem you’re worrying about? Maybe we can help.

Solve It 7: Mortgage Money https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-mortgage-money/ Thu, 31 Aug 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1695175 A local mom learned she had money coming her way. But says when she didn’t receive it, she needed Solve It 7’s help to cash in. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Lindsay got a letter in the mail with good news:  she was owed more than $560.

“We were excited,” Lindsay said.

And the timing was perfect:  “We had just had our second kid,” Lindsay said.  “We could use the money.”

The letter was from the mortgage company that financed her condo.

“When the mortgage company was bought out by a new company, we had money that was still left in the escrow account and that they had a check that was owed to us, and all I had to do was sign the form and send it back,” Lindsay said.

Lindsay followed the directions, and the busy mom waited for the check.

“It wasn’t like it was 20 bucks. It was a decent amount of money,” Lindsay said.

When the check didn’t show after a month, she called the company.

“They said that they sent a check. They had to check into it to make sure that no check was cashed, which it wasn’t because we never received it. And then they told me they’d cut me a new check. But it could be a 60 to 90-day processing time. So to call back in, you know, the 90 days,” Lindsay said.

Lindsay says 90 days passed, and still no check.

“We called, and it was the same story — they sent us a check,” Lindsay said.  “I told them we never received it. They said, ‘Let us look into it. You know, if we find that it was never cashed, we’ll cut you a new check.'”

Lindsay says she never got her check — even after contacting the company many times.

“It was the exact same thing every time,” Lindsay said.

So much time has passed, Lindsay is now about to have her third child.

“I think it’s crazy that they kind of gave us the runaround for so long,” Lindsay said.

Tired of that runaround, she emailed Solve It 7.   We contacted the mortgage company

And guess what finally arrived: her check!

“Thank you so much for helping,” Lindsay said. “We reached out to you, and within a week, we had the check. We definitely will put it to good use. We’ll be buying some more diapers and formula.”

Good luck, Lindsay! Did someone tell you the check is in the mail, and you’re still waiting?

Solve It 7: No-Show Grill Delivery https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-no-show-grill-delivery/ Thu, 24 Aug 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1693773 A local family wanted to put some sizzle in their summer and bought a brand-new backyard grill. When it wasn’t delivered, the family turned up the heat and contacted Solve It Seven. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Rommy got the text she was waiting for. “We were very happy,” she said.

She and her husband ordered a fancy grill with a smoker from a store.

“We were so excited about it,” Rommy said.

The text said it would be delivered on July 3rd. “We were like, ‘Okay! Perfect,'” Rommy said.

She invited her family for a Fourth of July cookout.

“We went out too and purchased our stuff, all the ingredients,” Rommy said.

Rommy stayed home from work on the 3rd — waited all day — but the grill never came.

“I was very upset. I was very excited to have a nice day with my family a nice dinner. So I had to cancel because there were no grill,” Rommy said.

She called the store.

“He told me, ‘I’m sorry, ma’am. There’s nothing we can do. They reschedule it again. I said to them, ‘I have to go to work. I stay home again,'” Rommy said.

Rommy says she waited a second time — for 12 hours.

“A no-show again. I was very mad. I was very disappointed. I couldn’t believe it,” Rommy said.

She called the store’s headquarters.

“You guys promised me already that you’re going to deliver my grill. I pay my money for it. So, at this point, what are you guys gonna do about it?” Rommy said.

She says she got a third delivery date, but the grill still didn’t come!

“I called again, and I told them, ‘Listen, this is not fair. This is unbelievable. I never had so much trouble in my life,'” Rommy said.

Rommy’s next call was to Solve It 7.

“We need to keep fighting for our grill,” Rommy said.

We emailed the store. Rommy says a manager called and promised a fourth delivery date.

“They didn’t come! No message. No apologies. No nothing,” Rommy said.

We contacted the store again — and finally, the grill arrived!

“Solve it, 7; you are amazing,” Rommy said.

The store also gave them $200 off for their troubles.

Now, they can host family cookouts for the rest of the summer.

“Thank you so much. We really appreciate it,” Rommy said.

The store where Rommy bought the grill told us: “The satisfaction of our customers is our top priority. We are pleased that the issue has been resolved to her satisfaction.”

Solve It 7: Window Worries https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-window-worries/ Thu, 17 Aug 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1692518 It was a whodunnit for a Wakefield man, but once he solved the mystery of who damaged his house, he needed Solve It 7 to close the case. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

“I came out of the car, I looked around and said, ‘What the hell is going on here?” Peter said.

And that’s when Peter saw a mess on his step: a toppled flower pot next to a package delivery.

“I just went over and went to go pick up the pot in the dirt, and I glanced over to my window,” Peter said.

The window was shattered.

“I said to myself, ‘I wonder if someone broke in?” Peter said.

Peter called the police.

“I was scared because I didn’t know if someone entered the house,” Peter said.

Peter and the officers didn’t find an intruder.

After he got the window boarded up, the clues led him to back that package delivery.

“I said, ‘Someone must have come down the driveway with a car or a vehicle. It just kind of rolled into the chair.’ The chair was bent in here and twisted, and part of it was brought up into the window,” Peter said.

Expecting another package from the same delivery company, Peter posted this sign asking the driver to “come clean.”

“I said, ‘I have nothing to lose,'” he said.

Soon after, Peter found a note, saying “Please call me” with a phone number.

“I took a double take, and I kind of chuckled to myself and said, ‘Wow, you know, they’re fessing up to it.’ so, I immediately called that number,” Peter said.

Peter says the number belonged to a company manager.

“He said to me, ‘I reached out, and the driver got nervous after it happened. We’re going to take care of it, just don’t worry about it,'” Peter said.

But Peter says after calling the company for a month, he felt like his damage claim hit a dead-end

“I just want this done and over with. If the driver created the problem, I’m okay. People make mistakes. If that’s what happened, that’s fine. Just fix it,” Peter said.

Finally, Peter put Solve It 7 on the case.

We contacted the company, and soon after, his claim got the green light.

This check for $1800 dollars arrived to cover his damage.

“I want to say thank you, Solve It 7,” Peter said. “You guys step up and help us out.”

We are happy to help. Do you have a case that needs to be cracked? Maybe we can help!

Solve It 7: Wallet Woes https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-wallet-woes/ Thu, 10 Aug 2023 01:48:41 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1691434 An Athol woman’s wallet literally got away from her while she was on a rollercoaster. To get it back, she needed Solve It 7’s help.

Yuri had her wallet when she and her family left for an amusement park this summer.

But she didn’t come home with it.

“It’s crazy. It’s crazy,” Yuri said.

Yuri watched her wallet take a spin of its own while she was on a rollercoaster.

“We were on the last loop of the ride, we were turning, and as soon as that turn went, it flew out of my pocket! My heart sank because everything’s in that wallet that is important to me,” Yuri said.

Fortunately, Yuri spotted her wallet near the ride.

“I even got a picture of it right behind the fence. It’s only five feet away,” Yuri said.

She thought park employees would quickly pick it up and give it back to her.

“They first told us that only authorized people could go back there and that it wasn’t guaranteed that they were going to find it. And then I’m like, ‘But it’s right there.’ It was just it was mind-blowing. It was so close, but yet so far,” Yuri said.

Yuri was told to fill out a lost and found report.

“We specifically described the wallet. It’s got my license right in front of it. We thought, oh, since it’s right there, you know, somebody’s just gonna call us in a day or two,” Yuri said.

But Yuri says no one reached out, so she started calling the park every day.

“Have you guys seen it or retrieved it? Every day was, ‘No, we haven’t. No, we haven’t.’ So it was scary.

I was getting pretty worried to the point where I actually had to disable my debit cards just in case, make sure that, you know, no one would use them,” Yuri said.

After ten days, Yuri’s next stop was Solve It 7.

“I was getting nowhere,” Yuri said.

We contacted the park.

A rep. told us: The wallet has been safely retrieved from the restricted area.

“I was excited. I was so ecstatic,” Yuri said.

She took another ride to the park and got her wallet.

“Everything was in it, everything,” Yuri said. “Thank you so much for helping me and getting my wallet back.”

We’re so glad it worked out. Do you have a problem that’s taking you for a ride?

Maybe we can help.

Solve It 7: Gazebo Glitch https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-gazebo-glitch/ Thu, 03 Aug 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1690160 A Franklin woman wanted to spruce up her backyard to make it a great place to relax. But she says when contractors didn’t show, she contacted Solve It 7.

Jen’s backyard is an oasis — with a stunning pool, lush landscaping, and cozy deck.

“We love just being out here and being able to entertain with our family and friends,” Jen said.

To make her backyard a perfect paradise, Jen splurged on something special…

“We purchased a gazebo,” Jen said.

She paid the store an extra $950 to have it installed.

“Then, they transferred me to their installation company that they use to install the gazebo,” Jen said.

Jen says she tried scheduling the job several times:

“I just felt like I was in a three-ring circus and being bounced around and contractor after contractor canceling on me and not showing up for the job. It was really frustrating,” Jen said.

She says she finally asked the install company for a refund.

“A supervisor called me back and said that, ‘We can issue the refund for you, but it’s going to be in a check format. It can’t be issued immediately. And it could take six weeks or longer.’ She advised that I call the store,” Jen said.

That’s what Jen did, but says no one ever called her back.

So she made one more call to Solve It 7.

“At that point was in tears. It was really upsetting not to have this done. I felt kind of under pressure — the summer is going away from us,” Jen said.

We contacted the store — and Jen says that’s when someone reached out to her.

“They had said that they had been contacted by a reporter, and they wanted to get the bottom of my story,” Jen said.

Soon after, she got her $950 refund.

“I owe everything to Solve It 7,” Jen said.

She paid another contractor to build the gazebo. Now she and her family can enjoy the rest of summer in the sun — or shade.

“Thanks, Solve It 7,” Jen said. “If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have this beautiful gazebo or my money back.”

We’re glad it worked out. Are you fighting a consumer battle? Maybe we can help.

Solve It 7: Collectible Coin Refund https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-collectible-coin-refund/ Thu, 27 Jul 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1688786 A local man ordered a collectible gold coin worth thousands of dollars. But when he didn’t get what he paid for, Solve It 7 helped him cash in.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

“I love the beauty of it and the satisfaction of collecting,” Barry said.

Barry’s excitement shines like the coins he collects.

“A 1926 standing liberty quarter. It’s known as one of the most beautiful coins ever minted,” Barry said.

Barry’s fascination started when he was young.

“The first time I started collecting coins, I had a paper route. I was about 10,” Barry said.

And he still loves collectibles, like the books and records he sells in his Newton store.

“I’m an avid collector of everything,” Barry said.

Barry recently bought this one-ounce gold coin for more than $2800 from the U.S. Mint.

“I was very excited about it. I had to go to the computer at exactly 12 o’clock noon, on March 30th because these sell out quickly,” Barry said.

But Barry was shocked when it arrived.

“It’s not the coin I ordered,” Barry said.  “I was horrified.”

The coin he received is worth about half as much as the one he bought.

So he called the Mint, to return it, and get the one he wanted.

“No, they can’t do that. They’re all sold out,” Barry said.

Barry was willing to keep the coin if he got half his money back.

“It’s a nice coin; it’s just not worth what I paid for it,” Barry said.

He says he tried for months to get his refund. “It was frustrating,” Barry said.

So he reached out to Solve It 7.

We contacted the Mint, and a representative told us: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’re connecting with the customer to resolve this.

Soon after, Barry got his $1400.

“Thank you. Thank you very much,” Barry said.

Now he can get back to collecting his money and his music.

“If you have a problem, go to Solve It 7,” Barry said. “They will solve it.”

Solve It 7: Crypto Contest https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-crypto-contest/ Thu, 20 Jul 2023 01:57:50 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1687147 A Braintree man won a virtual sweepstakes — but when he didn’t get his prize, he contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Conor’s computer skills have earned him a few digital dollars.

“I saw an opportunity,” Conor said.

He made about 100 bucks buying and selling cryptocurrency.

Then he entered a computer contest.

“It was pretty much like playing a video game. You would just move your character around. The goal was to go around the map and get as many coins as you could,” Conor said.

And he won — what he calculated to be about $1700 worth of crypto.

“I was excited for that. That made me pretty happy that happened that I won so much,” Conor said.

He filled out a form and signed an affidavit sent by the event sponsor

“I made sure I got it in time,” Conor said.

But a year passed, and he says he didn’t get his digital dough.

“It was always an excuse week after week after week of why they can’t send it. ‘we need another 30 days.’ it was just that constantly. Six months in, they stopped emailing me. I was pretty sad,” Conor said.

So Conor decided to give solve it seven a shot.

“I have seen the great work you guys do getting things done,” Conor said.

We contacted the sponsor, and soon after — Conor got a digital gift card for $2700.

“I was smiling so much because, after a year of waiting, that was really a nice thing to see in my email. Thank you so much for the help. You guys really did some magic getting them to answer, and I’m so happy,” Conor said.

Solve It 7: Bank Account Bummer https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-bank-account-bummer/ Thu, 13 Jul 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1685557 Time and money were running out for a local medical school student after identity thieves cleaned out her bank account. When she had trouble getting her money back, she contacted Solve It 7.

Kaitlyn was worried! How would she buy food and pay her bills?

“I was really stressed,” Kaitlyn said.

Her cash concerns started in May.

She used an app to order coffee, and her debit card was declined.

“So I went right to my banking app, and then saw that my account had $0 in it,” Kaitlyn said.

Kaitlyn discovered she was hit by identity thieves.

“There was a strange account that I didn’t recognize that had been created under my name. And I went into that account and saw that all my money had been transferred into it and then withdrawn from an ATM,” Kaitlyn said.

She says more than $1000 was gone.

“That part was the scariest part knowing that someone had stolen my identity and was able to do all that without me knowing,” Kaitlyn said.

Kaitlyn reported the theft to her bank and asked for her money back.

“They said that it was obviously fraud and there wasn’t much of a case to investigate, and they weren’t concerned about it being approved. So it was all very reassuring at the beginning,” Kaitlyn said.

But after waiting one month, she says the bank would only give her some of her money back.

“It was another shock,” Kaitlyn said.

The medical student was nearly out of money, so she emailed Solve It 7.

“I had gotten to the end of my rope,” Kaitlyn said.

We contacted the bank, and Kaitlyn got her money back the next day.

A representative from the bank told us:

“We take identity theft very seriously, and prioritize protecting our clients. Resolving identity theft incidents can be a complicated process, and we are always working to improve our client experience.”

“I just want to say thank you so much. It was a very stressful time for me, and Solve It 7 came in right away and took care of it,” Kaitlyn said.

We are happy to have taken care of it. Are you stressing about a problem?

Solve It 7: Travel Trouble https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-travel-trouble/ Thu, 06 Jul 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1684052 A Douglas woman was owed more than $700 from a credit card company, but couldn’t get her money back, until Solve It 7 got involved. Now she’s giving us the credit. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Elizabeth moved to a home in the country.

So she and her husband could make their dream of having chickens, dogs, and a horse come true.

“I do live out here because of all my animals. My little menagerie,” Elizabeth said.

And recently, Elizabeth got a job where she could work from her dream home.

Wanting to spend extra time with her animals Elizabeth got a new work-from-home job.

“I love it. Even though I’m stationed from home, I will be doing a lot of traveling,” Elizabeth said.

So she got a credit card with travel perks.

“You got points towards hotel discounts and the flights,” Elizabeth said.

She tried using the card’s app to book a flight.

“I hit submit, I got an error, and the error specifically said, ‘Call this number,'” Elizabeth said.

She called the number and spoke to a representative from the credit card company.

“She said, ‘Sometimes there are just errors. She said that she was just going to cancel that flight for me and that charge would drop off in like three to five business days,” Elizabeth said.

But the $760 charge did not drop off.

Elizabeth says for weeks, she tried calling and emailing to get a refund.

“It’s not easy to call these giant corporations, you have to go through nine million different people tell your story 17 different ways. I had been passed around from agent to agent. I felt like I was getting absolutely nowhere,” Elizabeth said.

Her next stop was Solve It 7.

We emailed the credit card company and soon after, a representative contacted Elizabeth.

“I told her, I feel like the only reason that you guys finally responded to me was because I contacted the news. And she agreed, she said, that is how this caught my attention,” Elizabeth said.

Elizabeth got her money back and 20,000 bonus points.

Now she can devote more time to her new job and her animals.

Solve It 7: Car Rental Crisis https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-car-rental-crisis/ Thu, 29 Jun 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1682769 A Sudbury man tried to rent a car, but his plans hit a roadblock when he learned he was on a “do not rent” list. Wanting to get back on the road, he contacted solve it 7.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Newton Taylor relies on his car.

“For getting back and forth to work. My mother’s medical appointments. I just can’t be without it,” Newton said.

And Newton was without his car a while back when it went into the shop.

“I had to bring my car in because someone hit it,” Newton said. “The side window and the driver’s door were blown out. It just exploded. It was the other person’s fault. So their insurance had to pay.”

Newton had to rent a car and says the insurance company balked at the bill.

So he paid it:

“I wanted everything paid so that I wouldn’t have anything overhanging my head,” Newton said.

Eventually, the insurance company did pay for Newton’s rental.

“And then, I got reimbursed by the rental company. I thought everything was all set,” Newton said.

But the next time Newton went to rent a car from the same company, he got news that stopped him in his tracks.

“They told me that I was on the do not rent list for non-payment. I was very shocked,” Newton said.

Newton says he tried getting off the do not rent list for nearly a year.

“It was just exhausting. Horrendous,” Newton said.

He decided to shift gears and emailed Solve It 7.

“Well, I’ve watched Channel 7 news every day. And I see people getting things resolved. And I felt this was my last chance,” Newton said.

We contacted the car rental company. A representative told us Newton was placed on our do not rent list as a result of a miscommunication processing a payment. He’s now removed from the list and welcome to rent.

“I want to say thank you, Solve It 7, so much for taking this headache off my shoulders,” Newton said.

Solve It 7: Concert Ticket Refund https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-concert-ticket-refund/ Thu, 22 Jun 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1681391 A local teacher couldn’t wait to see Lizzo in concert. But when the Grammy winner got sick and rescheduled her show, the teacher had a problem. She turned to Solve It 7 for help.

Lizzo’s singing always makes Dena feel…
(Lizzo sings her song, “Good as hell.”)

“Love her! Can’t help but dance to it,” Dena said.

The New Hampshire teacher got tickets to see her favorite flute player in Hartford, Connecticut.

“That was the closest venue. I was so excited to see her. I was gonna bring one of my girlfriends. She was also a special ed teacher,” Dena said.

Dena was in her car on the way to the concert when she had to hit the brakes.

Lizzo announced she was postponing the show.

“I did test positive for strep throat… I need to heal so I can be the artist you deserve,” Lizzo said on Instagram.

“Obviously, we were disappointed, but we understood that she was sick,” Dena said.

The concert was on a weekend.

But it was rescheduled for a school night when Dena had to be in class the next morning.

“We were quite devastated, knowing that it wouldn’t be an option for us to go that distance, and then try to wake up the next morning and perform for our students and kind of be on our game,” Dena said.

Dena reached out to the ticket company and says she had trouble getting a refund.

“There was no option to transfer or resell the tickets either. So I was stuck with the tickets,” Dena said.

She emailed Solve It 7.

“I really didn’t know where else to turn,” Dena said.

Soon she had reason to dance.

“They had said they had been contacted from a news station in Boston and they would be issuing our refund. Thank you so much,” Dena said.

Dena plans to use that money on tickets the next time Lizzo comes to town.

“I really hope she comes back. I’m sure she will come back. That would be lovely,” Dena said.

Solve It 7: Dishwasher Dilemma  https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-dishwasher-dilemma/ Thu, 15 Jun 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1679973 A South Shore woman bought an extended warranty for her dishwasher but says when she couldn’t get paid for her claim, she contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Anne was forced to wash her dirty dishes by hand for weeks…

“I really don’t enjoy this at all. I’m a little older, and my back doesn’t feel so good standing at the sink,” Anne said.

She had a dishwasher but it broke down.

“There was just water in the bottom of the dishwasher. Everything was filthy. And I’m like, oh, my goodness,” Anne said.

Anne put in a claim on the extended warranty she purchased.

“It seems like nowadays when things break, the whole thing breaks. It’s not a small inexpensive part that you need to replace,” Anne said.

The warranty company sent a repair person and told Anne:

“It’s too expensive to repair. So we’ll just give you a check for the depreciated value of the dishwasher,” Anne said.

Anne says she was told she’d get a check for $470 dollars in two to three months.

So she bought a new dishwasher.

“At least still help defray the cost of a new machine. We want to manage our money carefully,” Anne said.

But for eight months Anne didn’t get a check.

“Very frustrating. And I’d walk back in the house going, where’s my money? I emailed, and I would get emails back saying, ‘Oh, we’re looking into it, or my boss has it, you know, it should have been paid,’ blah, blah, blah,” Anne said.

Needing her money Anne decided to check out Solve It 7. “I said, ‘Well, it’s worth a try.'”

We emailed the warranty company several times soon after her check arrived.

“Honest to goodness, thank you so much for helping. You say what you’re gonna do and you do it. That’s wonderful,” Anne said.

It’s wonderful it worked out! Are you missing money you’re owed?

Solve It 7: Gas Meter Mix-Up https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-gas-meter-mix-up/ Thu, 08 Jun 2023 01:54:28 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1678298 When a local woman got a gigantic gas bill, she was left fuming. So she contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Tereana Perkins was thrilled to call this recently renovated apartment — home.

“It was a one family then it turned into a two family. I felt like it was perfect,” Tereana said.

Everything inside was brand new — and her stove, hot water and heat all run on gas.

Her monthly bill was about $65 a month.

But recently Tereana learned, for about a year, there was a gas meter mix-up with her neighbor.

“I get a call from my landlord, and she told me there were crossed meters and how she was paying my bill, and I was paying her bill, and I was like OK,” Tereana said.

When the gas company uncrossed the meters, it discovered Tereana wasn’t charged for all the gas she used. So she was billed $1900.

“I was really upset.  Like I don’t want to have to pay this. It’s not my problem. It’s not my fault,” Tereana said.

Tereana called the gas company.

“They just pretty much told me that was my bill and I had to pay it. I was really stressed. I was very worried,” Tereana said.

To relieve that stress, Tereana emailed Solve It 7.

“I watch you guys often, and I see that you have solved many people’s problems,” Tereana said.

We contacted the gas company.  Turns out the meter wasn’t the only mix-up.  Tereana was accidentally charged the $1900 and doesn’t owe the money.

“Thank you very much. I don’t know what I would have possibly even done if I didn’t call you or email you,” Tereana said.

We’re happy you reached out. Do you have a mix-up you’re trying to straighten out?

Solve It 7: Burst Pipe Blues https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-burst-pipe-blues/ Thu, 01 Jun 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1676490 A frozen pipe led to a flood of trouble for a Woburn woman.

When her insurance company left her feeling iced out, she contacted Solve It 7.  Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

For months Corinne has tip-toed over nails, stripped floors with cracking boards nd no water in her kitchen.

“It was awful,” Corinne said.

It all started this past winter when a pipe froze and burst in her kitchen.

Water gushed through the floor down to her basement.

“The water came from the dishwasher, and essentially all rushed this way. It was like a swimming pool in here,” Corinne said.

Corinne was heartbroken. She worked overtime as an ICU nurse to buy her house.

“I worked so hard to do this,” Corinne said.

She put in a claim with her insurance company, got a contractor, and sent his estimate to her company.

“They declined the estimate and said this isn’t detailed enough,” Corinne said.

They would only give her $20,000, which she says wasn’t enough to cover the repairs.

“I was so mad because I was like this isn’t right. I just want my kitchen back. I just want my dining room,” Corinne said.

She says she kept calling to clarify the estimate but felt like her claim was frozen too.

“The amount of times I was leaving messages calling, emailing with no response. I mean, that was probably weeks of my life calling every single day,” Corinne said.

Finally, she contacted Solve It 7.

“I was like, on the verge of tears. I’m like, ‘I can’t live like this anymore,'” Corinne said.

We contacted the insurance company.

They gave Corinne $10,000 more dollars, enough to fix her house.

A company representative told us they were happy to hear a resolution was reached and said thank you for reaching out about her claim.

“Without you guys, I’d still be living like this. I want to say thank you. I could cry. I feel just so thankful,” Corinne said.

Solve It 7: Shopping Shocker https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-shopping-shocker/ Thu, 25 May 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1675024 A South Shore woman says she ordered groceries and ended up with a shocking shopping bill. When she had trouble getting her money back, she contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Melissa was gearing up for a movie marathon.

“My daughter had her friend over,” Melissa said.

And they planned the perfect munchie menu.

“Popcorn. Brownies. Milk. You know, just the whole movie night junk food stuff,” Melissa said.

She ordered the snacks through a grocery delivery app.

“I received a notification that the groceries were delivered with a picture of my front porch with no groceries,” Melissa said.

Melissa checked her porch.

“I looked around. I said, ‘Where’s my groceries?’ Kind of stormed in the house, and I said to my husband, ‘There’s nothing out there,'” Melissa said.

So she called the delivery company.

“They said they would kind of track into the driver’s GPS. Try to get a hold of her. They put me on hold. They tried several times. She wouldn’t answer,” Melissa said.

Then another shopping surprise.

“I noticed an additional charge of $143. They said it was more groceries that she had added on — for me to pay for. I was beyond livid. She took my groceries, then she shopped for herself,” Melissa said.

Melissa was left with a $253 bill.

“I was totally beside myself. I panicked. I told them I want a refund. They said at that point; they would give me a refund, no problem,” Melissa said.

But Melissa says she didn’t get her refund.

“After calling them relentlessly, they said they have to bring it to the higher-ups the security team, and it’s going to have to go through them. And that made me more upset,” Melissa said.

So she contacted Solve It 7.

“Wasn’t getting any answers. So my husband said, ‘Call them they’ll get everything done,'” Melissa said.

We sent a message to the delivery company.

A representative told us the driver was removed from the app, Melissa got her refund, and they were glad they could help resolve this issue.

Solve It 7: Detoured Deliveries https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-detoured-deliveries/ Thu, 18 May 2023 01:03:24 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1673491 It started as a mystery for one couple: why weren’t they getting their packages? Once they figured it out they needed Solve It 7’s help. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Paul and Kristin bought a new house on a new street in Plymouth.

“We were very happy to live here,” Paul said.

Then they started buying new stuff from a popular online store.

“And then, when it said it was delivered, we looked outside, nothing outside,” Paul said.

“I would reach out to neighbors saying, ‘Did it accidentally get delivered to your house?'” Kristin said.

The couple asked for help on their neighborhood’s Facebook group.

“One of our other neighbors that’s lived here longer said, ‘Listen, we’ve had the same problem. There are similar addresses in another town; your order is probably in the other town,'” Paul said.

The couple did some online detective work and discovered their packages were being delivered to another town: To a home in Carver, 20 miles away from Plymouth.

It had the same house number and a similar street name.

“We were kind of surprised,” Paul said.

They say they kept calling the retailer about their detoured deliveries.

“We had tried the phone calls. We tried the chat. We tried the emails. Every single time we contact them. No joke, 40 or 50 times they said it’s taken care of. Don’t worry about it. Reorder it, and you’ll get it. Never, never, never changed,” Paul said.

The couple tracked down the woman in Carver who was getting their packages and sent her a message.

“I think the first thing was we live in a different town. We have very similar addresses. I think you may have some of our packages,” Paul said.

“She said, ‘Oh yeah I have it right here. I’ll hold onto it.’ Oh, she was awesome,” Kristin said.

Paul and Kristin say they drove to Carver more than 15 times to pick up different deliveries: A treadmill. Light switches.  Laundry detergent.

“Frustration pure frustration,” Kristin said.

Trying to put the frustration behind them, they emailed Solve it 7, and we helped deliver their message.

A representative for the retailer told us:

“We’d like to thank 7 News for bringing this customer’s experience to our attention. We apologized and fixed the glitch in our map system.”

Now Paul, Kristin, and the homes on their street are getting their deliveries.

“Thank you very much. We appreciate all the effort and hard work,” Paul said.

“It’s been awesome working with Solve It 7, and they’ve really helped us,” Kristin said.

The store also sent Paul and Kristin a $200 gift card.

Solve It 7: Cash Crunch https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-cash-crunch/ Thu, 11 May 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1671568 A New Hampshire man, laid off from his job as a 401k representative, had a 401k crisis of his own. He turned to Solve It 7 for help in his cash crunch. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

It’s never a good time to have a home appliance break, but Tim got a double whammy.

First, his furnace caught fire and broke. Then his washing machine died.

“Very stressful time for sure,” Tim said.

He needed some emergency funds but was short on cash because he just lost his job.

“I was really upset. I was worried about it. I didn’t know what I was gonna do,” Tim said.

So he decided to withdraw $3000 from his 401k.

“I wouldn’t want to do that normally, but it was an extenuating circumstance,” Tim said.

Tim filled out a form to get his money through direct deposit.

“I made sure that I wrote it as clearly as possible. Like I double-checked each number so that it was very legible. It was printed out and then scanned again. One of the numbers became less legible,” Tim said.

He says the company that processes the payouts had difficulty reading his account number and mistakenly sent the money to someone else.

“They entered in a two instead of eight. It was crazy. I couldn’t believe it. I had a pit in my stomach,” Tim said.

For two months, Tim says he tried but could not get his money back.

So he emailed Solve It 7.

“I was beyond surprised to see that I got a response within like 15 or 20 minutes,” Tim said.

We contacted the company.

And they soon sent him this check for $3000.

Now he can pay to fix his furnace and buy a new washing machine.

“I am beyond relieved,” Tim said. “I’m so happy that it was able to be resolved. Thank you so much. Like no one would help me.”

He wanted his parents’ grave marker completed. When that didn’t happen, his wife contacted solve it 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Chuck and his wife, Lisa, remember the good times his parents spent together.

“They traveled everywhere. They had a motorhome. I think they made it to every state except for eight,” Chuck said.

After his parents, Charles and Marilyn, passed away — Chuck wanted their final resting place at the cemetery to be perfect.

“It was just sentimental. I just wanted it done,” Chuck said.

Chuck paid for their gravestone and says he was told it would be ready by last fall.

But Thanksgiving and Christmas passed, and the grave marker never arrived.

“Just sad; just looking at an old dug-up grave is what it looked like. It didn’t feel like it was theirs,” Chuck said.

Chuck and Lisa say they called and emailed the company many times — but got no response.

“I was just like, kinda like, at a loss too, like, what do you do?” Lisa said.

“We contacted solve it 7,” Chuck said.

And we got to work.

“The very next day, I had a family member call me from the company willing to resolve it. Thank you guys for getting it done,” Chuck said.

On Easter Sunday, Chuck and Lisa got a pleasant surprise when they visited the cemetery. The memorial marker was there.

“It was nice. It was nice to see it,” Chuck said.

Solve It 7: Post Predicament https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-post-predicament/ Thu, 27 Apr 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1668031 A truck driver crashed into a local family’s sign. They say the company stalled when it came time to pay for the damage. So they asked Solve It 7 to kick things into drive. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Diana and Greg Hannoosh treasured their one-of-a-kind house marker.

“We loved it,” Diana said.

The couple spent thousands of dollars on the granite post, sign, and custom-made painting of their nearby beach.

“We used to decorate it for every season. Everybody comments on our sign and how beautiful it is,” Diana said.

So Diana was alarmed when she heard a commotion outside this past winter.

“It sounded like a truck that was stuck. It was going backward and forward and backward and forward,” Diana said.

Here’s the truck Diana heard —  running over their house marker!

She rushed outside and found it like this!

“The post was ripped out of the ground. I was shocked. I just was heartbroken,” Diana said.

She says she confronted the truck’s driver.

“I said, you knocked over my post. And he’s like, you know, I’m in big trouble. He just told me you need to call the company, the trucking company,” Diana said.

Diana says she called and emailed the delivery company several times asking them to pay for their post.

“It was just two months of nothing. My husband and I were both mad and just felt like there was no responsibility being taken,” Diana said.

So they emailed Solve It 7.

We contacted the company. It’s now in the process of paying the family for the smashed-up sign.

“Thank you Solve It 7. I know that we never ever would have gotten anywhere with this. It means the world to us.”

Solve It 7: Raccoon Runaround https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-raccoon-runaround/ Thu, 20 Apr 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1665946 A Wellesley man paid to get some unwanted wildlife out of his place. But when the animals came back, he wanted a refund from the critter company. Brandon Gunnoe has the story in tonight’s Solve It 7.

One by one three raccoons wanted to take a peek at David Freniere’s workout room.

“The surprise of having wildlife in the same room with you, it’s a little unsettling,” David said.

David recorded his wild face-to-face encounter.

“I said you guys aren’t supposed to be here,” David said.

That’s because David paid a company to humanely remove the raccoons and seal holes where they were getting in.

“After they got done with the initial service they wait about two weeks. They did come back out, and they didn’t notice any further activity. So they assumed that the problem had been fixed,” David said.

But David soon noticed a lot of activity. The uninvited guests had returned.

He tried coaxing the critters out for two days.

“My wife and all of her girlfriends were making fun of me saying, ‘Oh, he’s the raccoon whisperer,'” David said.

Despite David’s whispering, the raccoons needed a nudge.

“I was able to just put this piece of wood in the opening that went all the way across and then tap them on their back. That’s how ultimately, I was able to have all three raccoons leave,” David said.

David barricaded an outside opening and sealed up a hole he says wasn’t fixed.

He says he asked the company for a refund and got no response.

“We certainly didn’t get what we paid for. You guys were supposed to have taken care of the raccoons. I didn’t think it was my job. I was getting sort of the raccoon runaround,” David said.

So he emailed Solve It 7.

We contacted the company. A representative told us:

“We are terribly sorry about the situation, and we were happy to issue a refund.”

David got his $1200 back.

And now he can work out without feeling like he’s being watched.

“I want to say thank you Solve It 7 after three weeks of getting nowhere, Solve It 7, solved it,” David said.

So he contacted Solve It 7, and the results were music to his ears. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

From taking it easy on the guitar.

Playing folk music on the Irish bouzouki.

And being his very own piano man.

Matt Glover’s got talent!

“You have to play in front of people. It’s a lot more fun playing in front of people,” Matt said.

Matt did have fun when a nursing home hired him to play three times for residents last year.

“The people loved it. They were happy. Do something you love and get paid for it. How can you beat that?” Matt said.

But Matt didn’t get paid!

“It was just frustrating,” Matt said.

He says he sent the nursing home invoices totaling $240 for his performances.

“They just weren’t responding to it,” Matt said.

After months of calling to get his money, Matt emailed solve it seven.

“If anything’s gonna get done you guys can do it,” Matt said.

We contacted the nursing home a representative told us, “We’re happy to right a wrong.”

And that hit the right note! Matt finally got paid.

Solve It 7: Optical Obstacle https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-optical-obstacle/ Thu, 06 Apr 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1662466 A South Shore woman says she just wanted to be able to see clearly, but instead got an eyeful of problems. When she couldn’t look the other way any longer she contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Susan Noto-Moniz never looked back after trying contact lenses.

“I’ve been wearing my contacts since I was 23 because I was getting married and I didn’t want to be walking down the aisle with glasses,” Susan said.

The Weymouth woman says they’re now a daily essential.

“From the time I get up in the morning to the time I go to sleep, I really have very poor vision. I’d be bumping into things if I didn’t have my contacts,” Susan said.

So she recently ordered ten boxes of disposable contacts from an online company.

“I don’t want to ever be in the situation where I run out. It would be traumatic for me,” Susan said.

But she only received four boxes.

“I really was a little kind of freaked out. They were all for the right because my prescriptions are different for each eye,” Susan said.

Susan says she called the company several times.

They told me they couldn’t just send the contacts that they had shorted me, that I had to get the refund.

She didn’t get her $179 refund.

But Susan had the foresight to contact Solve It 7.

“My husband and I, we’re kind of news geeks. We watch channel seven; I see the Solve It 7. I see how effective it is,” Susan said.

We emailed the company. A representative told us: Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.

And their team uncovered an instance of miscommunication and human error.

They sent Susan ten boxes of contacts, and she got to keep the original four.

“Thank you so much I would have never gotten that result on my own. And I just really appreciate that you know, you’re doing this service for people to really help them,” Susan said.

Solve It 7: Musical Money https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-musical-money/ Thu, 30 Mar 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1660661 When the hit Broadway show Hamilton came to town, a Groveland woman bought tickets. But, when she and her friends couldn’t go she says she had trouble getting her musical money back.

Solve it 7 gave her case top billing. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

The music.

The costumes.

The history.

“I’ve heard it’s fascinating,” Gerry said.

Gerry couldn’t wait to see Hamilton.

“I was really excited,” Gerry said.

She bought four seats from an online ticket company and planned to go with friends when the musical hit Boston this year.

But Gerry and her friends had to back out.

“We’re all in our 80s here. So, you know, it’s something that goes with life in the 80th decade,” Gerry said.

Gerry easily resold her seats through the ticket company.

“I was thrilled. I mean, it was great. It was over $800,” Gerry said.

And she wasn’t worried about getting her money back. All she had to do was fill out a form on the company’s website to receive her refund.

“I did what I was supposed to do. I got a message back saying, oops, we’re sorry, this didn’t go through properly,” Gerry said.

She kept trying with no success.

“I had to redo it again and again. I don’t know how many times I did it. I lost count. I was very frustrated,” Gerry said.

Hoping to get the show on the road, Gerry contacted Solve It 7.

We emailed the ticket company and soon after:

“All of a sudden, I had a contact in customer service who said, ‘I’m here to help you.’ And it was magic. It was magic. She called me immediately, and within 10 minutes, it was fixed,” Gerry said.

Gerry got her money and hopes one day she’ll see Hamilton bring down the house.

“Thank you big time. I want to say continue doing what you’re doing because there is a need for it,” Gerry said.

Happy to help, Gerry!   Do you have a problem that we can spotlight?

Solve It 7: Treadmill Trouble https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-treadmill-trouble-2/ Thu, 23 Mar 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1658825 A New Hampshire woman ran more than a thousand miles last year! When her treadmill broke she says she had trouble getting it replaced. So she ran right to Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Kathy Kurdzo ties up her sneakers and pounds the pavement whenever she can.

“It’s cathartic for me. I ran 1260 miles last year,” Kathy said.

The New Hampshire woman even runs marathons.

But Kathy wanted to be able to run indoors too.

So she paid $4000 for this high-tech treadmill.

She even went the extra mile and bought an extended warranty.

“It’s such a big investment,” Kathy said.

But after a while, the treadmill didn’t run right.

“It was bouncier than normal. It just didn’t feel right,” Kathy said.

Kathy says she checked her treadmill and saw these cracks on each side of the machine.

“I couldn’t believe it. I looked at my warranty, and I saw that the frame has a lifetime warranty,” Kathy said.

Kathy called the treadmill company and put in a claim.

But says she got the runaround.

“They sent me an email saying, ‘OK now we have everything we need. You should hear from us within 30 to 90 days.’ 90 days came and went, and I started emailing them, ‘What’s going on with my case?’ And I got no response,” Kathy said.

Wanting to get back on track, Kathy emailed Solve It 7.

“I’ve seen a lot of cases where you’ve been able to help,” Kathy said.

We contacted the treadmill company. A representative told us “an error was made by one of our member care agents.”

They sent Kathy this brand-new treadmill, and she’s already logged many miles on it.

“Solve It Seven thank you so much. Thank you for helping me and thank you for solving my problem,” Kathy said.

Are you trying to solve a problem but feel like you’re just running in place? Maybe we can help.

Solve It 7: Resort Refund https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-resort-refund/ Thu, 16 Mar 2023 01:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1655237 A Shrewsbury couple had a luxurious trip planned to their favorite European travel destination. But they had to cancel and were promised a resort refund. When the money didn’t come they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

From the splendor of Sintra’s castles to the cityscapes of Lisbon, Kambiz and his wife Sharifeh couldn’t wait to vacation again in Portugal.

“Food is cheap. Drink is cheap. The country is beautiful. The ocean is so nice,” Kambiz said.

They used a travel site to book a room at a resort.

But then Sharifeh had some medical issues and couldn’t go.

“We were so disappointed,” Kambiz said.

Kambiz canceled the trip and asked for a refund on the room.

“They needed documentation for this,” Kambiz said.

He submitted this doctor’s note saying Sharifeh was not fit to fly and was told the booking site would refund their $1900.

“The actual refund gonna come to you in 30 days. We waited 30 days and another 30 days passed and another passed. That money never arrived. It was so frustrating,” Kambiz said.

So they contacted Solve It 7.

We emailed the travel site.  A representative told us, “Unfortunately there was a glitch in the system which delayed the refund.”

And now the couple has their money back.

“We are delighted. Thank you Solve It 7,” Kambiz said.

Solve It 7: Convertible Crash Mystery https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-convertible-crash-mystery/ Thu, 09 Mar 2023 03:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1653329 It’s a real “who dunnit.” An Abington family asks Solve It 7 to find out who damaged their daughter’s car. Brandon Gunnoe is on the case.

Sarah Campbell’s convertible is her pride and joy.

“Oh, I love this car,” Sarah said.

“I saved for like a year and a half to be able to afford the down payment.”

So when Sarah got off the T in Quincy one snowy night and found her convertible like this she was crushed, just like her bumper!

“I saw the bumper completely lopsided on the ground. I was furious. I was heartbroken. I was just beside myself. I was like looking around for someone to come up and be like, ‘Oh my god, I’m so sorry.’ I looked for a note. There was nothing,” Sarah said.

The UMass Boston student didn’t have collision insurance, so she needed to find who caused the damage to get them to pay for repairs.

I thought I was gonna have to pay for this all out of pocket.

Sarah contacted the MBTA police hoping to get answers.

When she got their report it said an officer reviewed MBTA surveillance video and saw a Bobcat used for snow removal hit her car.

But the information about who owned that Bobcat was blacked out!

“We called we asked for the unredacted report. They’re like, ‘We can’t give that to you.’ I was shaking at points with anger,” Sarah said.

At a dead end, Sarah’s mom turned to Solve It 7.

“I was pretty, pretty upset for her. “I’ve seen you be very responsive in situations like this,” Donna Campbell said.

We contacted the MBTA. And soon after, the snow removal company responsible for the crash called Sarah.

“They were profusely apologizing,” Sarah said.

A rep. for that company told us: “…we were sorry to hear about the accident” and “…once we were informed we quickly initiated a plan for prompt repairs.”

They sent Sarah this check to cover the damage.

“Thank you Solve it 7. You really solved it,” Sarah said.

Solve It 7: Dental Dilemma https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-dental-dilemma/ Thu, 02 Mar 2023 02:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1651733 A local family paid their dental insurance premiums but found out they didn’t have coverage. They say they tried to fix it but got the brush off! So they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

John keeps very busy at his family’s business in Holden, a car wash with a state inspection station.

“We enjoy it. It’s a nice community that we get to work with,” John said.

John buys health insurance for his family through the Massachusetts Health Connector, a state agency that links people with affordable coverage.

“I’ve never missed a premium or been late with a premium. We pay everything on time,” John said.

So John was stunned when he found out his daughter wasn’t insured for a recent dental appointment.

“We had to cancel appointments. It’s very, very annoying,” John said.

John says he spent lots of time on the phone with the staff at the Health Connector trying to clean up the problem.

“I would call, and they would send an email to somebody, and then they’d say I’ll get back to you tomorrow, then they wouldn’t call. Then I’d wait another day. I’d call them, and I’m telling you this happened like 20 times,” John said.

He reached out to Solve It 7 about his dental dilemma.

We connected with the Connector. A representative told us an agent made a mistake and the problem was fixed.

Now John’s family can go to the dentist, and he can focus on his bustling business.

“I want to say thank you Solve It 7,” John said. “Something I tried to get fixed for months wasn’t getting fixed. I called Solve It 7. They took care of it in a couple hours.”

When they couldn’t get their floor coverings fixed, they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Shredded strands of carpet on these stairs are a constant reminder of Richard Hill’s home improvement headache.

“They did a rotten job,” Richard said.

Richard and his wife Michele paid about $2300 to carpet much of their home, including Richard’s music room.

But they say this is what the installers left: Dirty carpet, a broken door, and an unfinished job.

“Crazy,” Richard said.

The couple says they called the store where they bought the carpet and the installers several times but couldn’t get their problems fixed.

“They ignored us,” Richard said.

Refusing to give up, they reached out to Solve It 7.

The store didn’t ignore us when we called.  A representative apologized and gave the couple a full refund.

Solve It 7: Home Heating Headache https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-home-heating-headache/ Thu, 16 Feb 2023 02:00:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1644381 When a local family’s furnace went on the fritz, they hoped their home warranty would help with a rapid repair. Instead, they say they felt like they got the cold shoulder. Hoping to heat things up, they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

When Ruth flipped on her heat last fall, the sound made her go cold.

“Click, click, click, bang, bang, bang, and then it would just shut down,” Ruth said.

With her furnace on the fritz, Ruth and her husband Jason needed a fast fix to keep their children and dogs warm as temperatures tumbled.

“We were definitely very, very concerned,” Jason said.

The Weymouth family had a home warranty, a policy that covers repairs and replacements on major appliances in their home.

“I felt a little relieved that I have a home warranty. That’s why you pay your $78 a month, you know, to have this protection plan,” Ruth said.

Ruth called the home warranty company, and a crew arrived to fix the furnace.

But the repairmen said they needed to order a part.

“Once the part came in, they came back to repair it, and they found out that they needed yet another part. I was almost in tears that he said, ‘We have to order another part. And I don’t know, honestly, how long it’s gonna take, Ruth said.'”

Two months went by.

The weather got colder, and the family still didn’t have heat.

“It got down, I think to about 43 degrees a few mornings,” Jason said.

The family bundled up in blankets and heavy clothes.

They left the oven door open and used space heaters to try to keep warm.

And Ruth kept calling the home warranty company.

“I spent hours and hours over the two months on the phone. It’s my heat. We’re freezing,” Ruth said.

Ruth and Jason got hot when they saw their electric bill.

They had to pay $1200 to run all those space heaters!

“Oh, our hearts dropped,” Jason said.

That’s when Ruth contacted Solve It 7.

We reached out to the home warranty company. A representative emailed us saying:

“The delay in resolving” the “claim does not meet our high standards for customer service and satisfaction.”

Soon the furnace was firing up again.

And the family got this check to cover their expensive electric bill.

“You guys were amazing,” Jason said.

“Thank you, Solve It 7, for helping keep my family warm this year and for helping us pay our electric bill that was very, very big,” Ruth said.

Solve It 7: Withdrawal Worries https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-withdrawal-worries/ Thu, 09 Feb 2023 02:08:49 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1640300 A local man saved thousands of dollars to buy his first home. But when it was time to hand over the down payment, he says he hit a snag that didn’t add up. So he contacted Solve it 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

When Jason Alger saw a video tour of this Fall River condo, he found his dream home.

“I was really excited about it,” Jason said.

He knew he was ready to use the $50,000 he’d saved for a down payment.

“I was like, ‘Wow, I did it.’ Like you know, ‘I’m adulting,'” Jason said.

All that money was in an online bank account he accessed using an app.

“They didn’t have a physical location,” Jason said.

But when Jason tried to withdraw the cash, he had a payout problem.

“They told me that there was a monthly withdrawal limit on how much you can withdraw in a month on the account, and they only allowed $20,000. I’m like, that’s not going to work,” Jason said.

Jason says he tried to close his account to get all his money back – but that didn’t work either.

“They’re like, well, we close your account. It’s going to take 30 days for us to close the account. And then it’s going to take about another two weeks for us to send your check. I was beside myself. I really was,” Jason said.

Jason didn’t want to lose the condo.

So he decided to bank on Solve It 7.

“A friend of mine recommended I contact Solve It 7,” Jason said.

We contacted the banking app, and a representative told us:

“…our team has been in touch with the member directly to assist him in transferring the funds. As of today, we consider this matter resolved.”

Jason got his money in time for the closing.

Now he’s settling into his new home.

“Thank you so much for helping me. I really appreciate it. Without you, without Solve It 7. I don’t think this would ever have gotten resolved,” Jason said.

Tired of seeing her left in the cold, her family contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

For Thelma, time is precious.

“I have pancreatic cancer, and they didn’t even expect me to live this long,” Thelma said.

The 84-year-old finds comfort in her cozy family room, relaxing in her recliner.

“My favorite position. I definitely enjoy the fireplace,” Thelma said.

That gas fireplace is the main source of heat in the room.

But recently it stopped working.

A contractor working in Thelma’s garage hit the propane gas line that fuels the fireplace.

“He came running in, and he was all nervous,” Thelma said.

The gas company shut off the propane until the damage could be repaired.

But once the gas line was fixed, Thelma says she spent weeks calling the gas company to get the propane turned back on.

“Oh, they’ll call you back. They’ll be out there,” Thelma said.

But they never came out, and the fireplace stayed dark.

Hoping tospark something, Thelma’s brother-in-law emailed Solve It 7.

“She’s cold. She’s sick. I mean, how does your heart not go out to someone in that situation?” Doug said.

We contacted the gas company, and a worker quickly showed up to get the gas going again.

Now Thelma’s stoked to be enjoying her fireplace once more.

“I want to say thank you for responding so quickly. And it’s a wonderful source to help other people,” Thelma said.

Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

New house, new car, new job.

Susie is enjoying her life after divorce.

It’s a new beginning,” Susie said.

Susie and her husband recently split after 24 years of marriage.

“We decided to part ways. It was amicable,” Susie said.

As part of the divorce, Susie’s husband agreed to transfer $46,000 from his retirement account to hers.

“His retirement had more money than mine. It was up to him to make them equal,” Susie said.

Last fall, they filled out the required paperwork and sent it to the company handling her husband’s retirement plan.

“I got an automatic response right away saying, you know, thank you for sending in your paperwork,” Susie said.

But months went by, and Susie never got the money.

She says she called and emailed the company more than a dozen times.

“I’m watching the news and the markets going down and the markets going down. And I’m thinking, now’s the time to buy, now’s the time to buy, and I can’t buy. I was like, at my wit’s end. I said, ‘I’m gonna email Solve It 7,'” Susie said.

Solve It 7: Jewelry Delivery Delay https://whdh.com/news/specials/solve-it/solve-it-7-jewelry-delivery-delay/ Thu, 19 Jan 2023 04:07:20 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1629566 (WHDH) — A Medford woman returned from a Caribbean vacation and discovered she’d left something very valuable behind. Getting it back proved almost impossible – until Solve It 7 stepped in. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Walking on the beach, playing in the sand, splashing in the ocean — Maureen had the perfect family vacation in Aruba.

“We had a wonderful time,” Maureen said.

Until she got home and made a sickening discovery.

I left my jewelry behind. I was very panicked

What she’d forgotten to pack was worth thousands of dollars.

“It’s a bag full of jewelry. There was diamond studs and a pearl necklace,” Maureen said.

Some of the items were irreplaceable.

“It was the sentimental value,” Maureen said.

The hotel shipped the jewelry back to Maureen.

“I was very relieved, and I thought for sure that I’d have it in a couple days,” Maureen said.

But that didn’t happen.

“It was returned to Aruba. They said I didn’t fill out a form saying that was my personal jewelry, that it wasn’t something I bought,” Maureen said.

So Maureen filled out this U.S. Customs form, and her very expensive package soon made its way back to the states – only to get stuck at the delivery company’s warehouse for six months.

“It was just so stressful. I started calling every week, I call the customer service number I would email, and I was never able to get through to anybody who could give me more information. I was very frustrated,” Maureen said.

Maureen contacted Solve It 7.

“Somebody finally suggested, ‘You could call Solve It 7,'” Maureen said.

We reached out to the delivery company, and a representative told us, “We apologize for the issues.”

A few days later, things turned good as gold for Maureen.

All her missing jewelry made it home.

“I was thrilled. I couldn’t have been happier. I thought it was a lost cause. Thank you so much for all your help,” Maureen said.

Solve it 7: Missing Gift Cards https://whdh.com/news/specials/solve-it/solve-it-7-missing-gift-cards/ Thu, 12 Jan 2023 02:59:43 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1625875 (WHDH) — When replacing two gift cards proved harder than they thought, a local family turned to Solve It 7 for help! Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

Mimi was walking on sunshine.

The Wakefield woman threw herself a party to celebrate turning 50 and being cancer free.

“Hearing that you have cancer is hard enough and then knowing that it was gone was magical,” Mimi said.

The party was at a local restaurant.

Mimi put out this basket, and her guests filled it with cards and gifts.

But she says after she got home, she couldn’t find the basket.

“What devastates me, knowing that I would never be able to read those messages. I felt badly for people who had given gifts,” Mimi said.

Gift cards for a wine shop and bookstore were in that missing basket, given to Mimi by her brother and his wife Diane.

“We thought it was a perfect gift,” Diane said.

Diane asked the drugstore where she bought the gift cards to reissue them.

But the person at the drugstore said she would have to contact the wine and bookstores directly.

“Nobody could pull up the card information. It was just back and forth. I was frustrated,” Diane said.

So Diane contacted Solve It 7.

“I was heartbroken for what had happened,” Diane said.

We reached out to the staff at the drugstore, and they sent Mimi replacement cards.

Now she’s ready to do some celebratory shopping.

“Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s been a rough, you know, few years, and this is a win,” Mimi said.

You’re welcome, Mimi. A representative at the drugstore told us they were glad to help. And we are too. Can we help you?

Solve It 7: Honeymoon Headache https://whdh.com/news/specials/solve-it-7-honeymoon-headache/ Thu, 05 Jan 2023 02:56:00 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1621702 A New Hampshire bride says her wedding was lovely, but the start of her honeymoon is not a cherished memory. She contacted Solve It 7 for help with her newlywed nightmare.

Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

The happiest day of Kelsey’s life was nearly ruined hours before her walk down the aisle.

She found out her honeymoon hotel reservation had been canceled.

“I just was crying. I was in hysterics,” Kelsey said.

Months earlier, about two dozen wedding guests booked rooms at the same Aruba resort to party with the honeymooning husband and wife.

Kelsey booked herreservation through a third-party website.

“I received a confirmation email,” Kelsey said.

But she later got another email.

“They said that there was an issue with my credit card that I had to call the hotel directly,” Kelsey said.

She says she did call and re-confirmed her card.

“I talked with them directly. They even sent me an email letting me know there were honeymoon amenities,” Kelsey said.

Everything seemed fine until right before the “I do’s” when she discovered she didn’t have a room anymore.

“I was very shocked. They said that all the rooms were sold out. There was nothing they could do. I had a lot of concern because there were a lot of people meeting me,” Kelsey said.

Without a room at the resort, Kelsey and her husband wouldn’t be able to use the beach and pool with their friends.

“If we were at a different resort, we wouldn’t see them during the day,” Kelsey said.

Kelsey had to rent a timeshare at the resort to salvage the stay.

She says it didn’t include the same perks, including some free meals and the room wasn’t as nice.

“It was definitely disappointing,” Kelsey said.

Kelsey emailed Solve It 7, and we vowed to help.

We contacted her third-party booking site, and a representative told us:

“The hotel directly canceled the reservation.” “We are… working with the hotel to understand why this happened,” and “No one should have had to go through this experience during their honeymoon.”

The company reimbursed Kelsey more than $3300 for the timeshare and her extra expenses.

“Thank you. Because there’s no way I would have had this result without you guys,” Kelsey said.

Do you have a problem you can’t fix? We’d like to help.

Aimee called the airline and got a voucher for future flights. But now Maeve doesn’t have any future plans to perform in Europe, where the airline flies.

“There was no reason to travel there. We could not use the credit,” Aimee said.

Aimee says she asked for her money back, but the airline told her:

“We can’t refund your money,” Aimee said.

So, Aimee gave Solve It 7 a whirl.

“My mother-in-law’s like, ‘Just give them a call – reach out.'” Aimee said.

We contacted an airline representative who quickly stepped up. She emailed us saying, “…we have reviewed the request and, as a gesture of goodwill, have issued a cash refund…”

“I was beyond ecstatic,” Aimee said.

“Thank you for getting the money back,” Maeve said.

Aimee got an $1100 refund. She put the money towards this new dance dress for Maeve.

“I can’t believe how much Solve It 7 helped me out,” Aimee said.

That’s music to our ears!

Solve It 7: Delivery Driver Dilemma https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-delivery-driver-dilemma/ Thu, 24 Nov 2022 14:56:57 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1600354 A Lynnfield man works an extra job to support his family. Then high-tech thieves swiped his hard-earned money. So, he asked Solve It 7 to help get it back.

Rob loves having a second job delivering take-out food.

“I enjoy the people, interacting with people. It’s good extra money,” Rob said.

And every bit helps because Rob has two kids in college and two in high school.

“It’s not cheap,” Rob said.

Rob works for a food delivery app and gets paid with a pay card – which works like a debit card.

“You can take money out of the bank and pay bills with it,” Rob said.

But thieves somehow got access to Rob’s pay card.

“They were able to change my password and basically lock me out of my account,” Rob said.

Soon his account was hit with charges and withdrawals Rob says he didn’t make.

He was out $3300.

He kept calling the delivery app asking for help.

“It was almost an hour on the phone every single time. It was so frustrating. I was almost in tears. I was so mad,” Rob said.

Rob needed someone to deliver for him.

So, he contacted Solve It 7.

“You were my last-ditch effort I literally had given up,” Rob said.

We emailed the company and a representative thanked us for escalating the situation.

The company refunded all of Rob’s money.

“I can’t believe it. There’s no chance I would have got my money if I didn’t call you guys. I want to say to Solve It 7 thank you so much. There are people out there that care,” Rob said.

Solve It 7: Home Security Hassle https://whdh.com/news/solve-it-7-home-security-hassle/ Wed, 16 Nov 2022 20:17:40 +0000 https://whdh.com/?p=1596144 A local family installed a home security system to be safe, but say when they ended up sorry, they contacted Solve It 7. Brandon Gunnoe has the story.

The alarm on Nick’s new home security system was loud and clear.

But he says it would often go off when it shouldn’t.

“It just wasn’t working very well,” Nick said.

He had the opposite problem with a surveillance camera in his yard.

That wouldn’t go on.

“It would just never work,” Nick said.

So Nick called his home security company.

“They kept sending technicians out and it still wasn’t working,” Nick said.

Nick found that alarming.

He travels a lot for work and wanted to keep his family safe.

“My wife stays home with our two little ones,” Nick said.

After more calls to the company, Nick says they offered him a deal for his troubles:an account credit so he’d get free service for a few months.

“We said, ‘Well, if it’s going to be free, we’ll deal with it,'” Nick said.

But soon Nick had a new problem.

“They said that our account was past due,” Nick said.

Nick got this collection notice for 31 hundred dollars.

“I was beyond shocked,” Nick said.

So he reached out to Solve It 7.

“I know you guys have helped out so many people,” Nick said.

We contacted the security company and soon a representative emailed us saying:

We’ve corrected the error, cleared the collections and are very sorry for the inconvenience.

“I’m very, very thankful to Solve It 7,” Nick said.

The company also fixed Nick’s system and gave him a year of free monitoring.

His alarm doesn’t go off accidentally anymore and he can see his front yard from his surveillance system.

“We couldn’t have done it without you guys,” Nick said.

Feel like you’ve been sounding the alarm on a problem and no one’s listening? Let us try to help.
